Here are some key points to understand your audience(s):

Demographics:

  • Age: What is the age range of your audience?

  • Gender: Is your audience predominantly male, female, or diverse?

  • Location: Where do they live or work?

  • Income: What is their income level?

  • Education: What is their educational background?

  • Occupation: What type of jobs do they have?

  • Marital status: Are they single, married, or in a relationship?

Psychographics:

  • What are their values?

  • What are their likes/dislikes?

  • What do they care about? 

  • What is their attitude towards your industry, product, or service?

  • How do they typically behave in various situations?

Pain Points and Needs:

  • What problems or challenges do they face?

  • What are their aspirations and desires?

  • What are their goals and objectives?

Buying Behavior:

  • How do they make purchase decisions?

  • Where do they shop, online or offline?

  • What influences their buying choices?

  • What is their buying frequency?

 

I would recommend conducting a competitor analysis. This allows you to know and understand your key competitors. It provides insight into their actions and allows you to see any gaps which are missing. Working on customer-buying personas is also a great way to understand certain customer profiles and traits, and it provides some clarity on your target audience.
