How Strawberry Blonde Marketing Began

Ever wondered how Strawberry Blonde Marketing began? Well, let me take you on a journey, but before we dive in, why not grab yourself a coffee and a biscuit?!

During the pandemic, I found myself on furlough for a few months, with time stretching out before me like an open road. I'd always harboured the dream of starting my own business, yet it felt like an overwhelming mountain to climb. However, I recalled my childhood days when I used to create candles with a fantastic kit my parents had given me. I couldn't forget the various candle styles and the joy they brought. Despite the competitive market, I saw an opportunity and decided to dedicate hours to experimenting with temperatures, wicks, and wax types. This led to the birth of Apollo Candles. Fast forward one year and four months, I became a mother to a beautiful little girl, and I chose to step back from my candle business to give her the time and attention she deserved. Although I relished crafting candles, it felt like the right decision.

With over two decades of employment, I'd had my fill of mismanagement and decided it was time for a change. The idea of venturing into freelance marketing, where I could dictate my hours and align work with my lifestyle, seemed like the perfect solution to my circumstances.

The process of selecting a brand name was a thoughtful one that spanned months, with numerous ideas scribbled down. I yearned for a name that held personal significance yet was distinctive. After pondering several options, I settled on 'Strawberry Blonde Marketing.' Firstly, because a special person in my life has strawberry blonde hair, which is a significant influence. Secondly, strawberries happen to be my favourite fruit, and their sweet satisfaction never fails to delight me. They are also unique in that they bear their seeds on the outside. In a similar vein, I want my marketing style to embody uniqueness and creativity.
I chose a colour palette of orange, red, and tinted pink for the brand, not to generalise female preferences but because I felt these colours harmonised well and added a touch of vibrancy to Strawberry Blonde Marketing's identity.

Whilst working on the brand I was working full time as an employee. My role suddenly came to an end after several months due to unforeseen circumstances which were completely out of my control. This led to me delving into freelance work, and here we are today. With over seven years of experience and knowledge working in in-house marketing roles for SMEs, mainly B2B, I can set your business apart from its competitors.
